Spanish police launch investigation after man shot in the head in Valencian city

Man is arrested following execution-style shooting on Spain's Costa Blanca

THE Policia Nacional have launched an investigation after a 45-year-old man was fatally shot in the head in Denia.

The victim was discovered in a parking garage in the Valencian city, which is located on Spain’s eastern Mediterranean coast (scene pictured above on social media).

Sources close to the investigation told newspaper Las Provincias that the man had suffered at least one bullet wound.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the killing was carried out by a man on a motor scooter, who is thought to have surprised his target, got off his vehicle, and shot him once in the head before fleeing the scene.

Witnesses said that the assailant was dressed all in black and was wearing a crash helmet.

The modus operandi suggests that the crime could have been some kind of settling of scores.

Police investigators later found the scooter that had been used in the crime, after it was abandoned not far from where the killing took place.

The incident comes just a day after a woman was murdered by her partner in nearby Castellon, and just a few days after three agricultural workers died in an agricultural area in Benifairó de les Valls when they were run over by a lorry.
