Watch: Weather chaos in Spain as roads are destroyed by hail and rain storms in the north and east – while Mallorca is placed on orange alert

SEVERE storms are continuing to batter north and eastern Spain, as well as the Balearic Islands.

Images shared online show how roads have collapsed in Aragon (pictured above, left), while huge balls of hail have been falling in La Rioja.

The wet weather is also being seen in holiday hotspots like Alicante, with areas remaining on alert for rain and hail today.

Video footage from Alicante city shows buckets of rain falling in the centre, with streets beginning to run with water.

Meanwhile, the whole of Mallorca has been placed on an orange alert for Wednesday, with official weather agency Aemet warning of up to 90mm of rainfall.
