Tragedy in Spain’s Sotogrande: Trocadero beach club employee, 25, is found dead in the restaurant’s swimming pool

POLICE have declared the death of a young man in the swimming pool of a swanky beach club a tragic accident.

Emergency services were called to the Trocadero Sotogrande restaurant in San Roque in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Officers from the Guardia Civil found a young employee of the beach club, around 25 years old, unconscious and bleeding out in the pool of the upscale restaurant at 6.50am.

Despite their efforts, the young man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sources consulted by the Olive Press said that the beach club had been holding an end of season party to mark the start of September.

“This young man was celebrating with his friends, we think they had been drinking, when he fell and hit his head and landed in the pool,” the source said.

“We are still working to confirm the cause of death but it looks like a tragic accident.”

The restaurant, located in a former beach club on Paseo del Parque in the luxurious Sotogrande urbanisation, is a popular spot in the area.
