TEMPERATURES will fall by up to 10C in parts of Spain on Thursday as a trough of cold air sweeps in from the Atlantic Ocean.
Storms and hail are predicted in some central areas according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
Rain will be especially persistent in Aragon, Castilla y Leon and Navarra, where 30 litres per m2 could accumulate on the day- totalling 100 litres per m2 until Sunday.

“A trough is a small tongue of cold air at altitude,” according to Meteored climatologist, Samuel Biener.
The temperature change will be felt the most strongly in the Madrid area with a difference of up to 10C, while there will be a 6C fall in other central areas, before values pick up again.
Crucially, the temperatures will not rebound to the high levels seen during the summer, therefore ushering in the start of autumn.
The other big feature of the Thursday weather change will be storms in north and central Spain caused by a DANA.
Aemet says that showers and heavy rains will run through the weekend until Monday.
Local intense rainfall is expected along with hail and gale force winds.
Storms may also develop in south-eastern Spain and the Valencian Community.
Samuel Biener said: “This is a relatively common stormy situation at the end of the climatological summer but the influence of the warm Mediterranean Sea is going to be felt.”
“The warm moist air will feed the storms with ‘prime petrol’.”
Biener warned that September is one of the months that is ‘most prone to torrential rain’.
