The owner filed a complaint with the police and told them about the scooter’s built-in GPS unit.

It showed it firstly on the N-332 heading towards Valencia and eventually ending up on a street in the La Rioja capital of Logroño.

The police went to the address and spoke to the car workshop boss who said he knew nothing about it.

A check revealed that the two-wheeler was inside a high-end car that was due to be serviced.

The vehicle owner was summonsed to the workshop and told officers that when he was on holiday in Benidorm with his son, they found the scooter abandoned in a ditch on the outskirts of the city and decided to take it.

The men aged 78 and 53 have been charged with theft.
