British cyclist dies after colliding with a car in Spain’s Valencia

A BRITISH expat died on Sunday after being involved in a road accident in Valencia province.

The 66-year-old man- named by a close friend as Martin Mander- was on his bicycle when he collided with a car on the Cami Vell d’Ontinyent.

Mr. Mander was initially taken to hospital in Ontinyent with multiple injuries, before being transferred to Xativa Hospital where he passed away.

The Levante newspaper reported that there was a head-on collision between the car and Mr. Mander’s bicycle.

The Guardia Civil is investigating the accident with a source telling Spanish media that ‘that the cyclist lost control ahead of the incident’.

The source was quoted as saying that the motorist ‘was driving correctly on the road’.

Born in Warwickshire, Mr. Mander lived locally in Ontinyent.
