Teulada Moraira is preparing to host a new edition of the highly anticipated Festa del Moscatell, an event that celebrates and highlights the town’s winemaking tradition.
Organised by the Teulada City Council, in collaboration with various local associations, the 2024 Festa del Moscatell will feature a diverse program of cultural, gastronomic, and festive activities on August 31st, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy numerous events.
Rosana Caselles, Councilor for Culture and Festivities, expressed her enthusiasm for this new edition of the Festa del Moscatell: “This festival is not only a tribute to our roots and the land that gives us its fruit but also an opportunity for everyone, locals and visitors alike, to celebrate together the pride of being part of Teulada Moraira.
Every year, Moscatel unites us and reminds us of the importance of our traditions, which are passed down from generation to generation with the same love and dedication. We are excited to share this legacy and continue strengthening the bonds that unite us as a community.”
The Celebration Begins with the ‘IX Mostra Curts de Moscatell de Teulada’ from August 28th to 30th
The Festa del Moscatell will kick off with the ninth edition of the Mostra Curts de Moscatell de Teulada, which will take place from August 28th to 30th at the Teulada Moraira Auditorium. During this event, 19 short films will be screened, competing for the festival’s awards. The showcase will be particularly notable for the participation of Valencian directors, including works by international filmmakers. Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite short films, becoming an active part of the festival.
August 31st Program: The Festa del Moscatell
- Moscatel Experiences: Starting at 10:00 AM, the festivities will begin with ‘Moscatel Experiences’. Participants will gather at the Font de l’Horta for a carriage ride to the Bancal Roig, where the traditional harvest of grapes for the emblematic Cavalcada del Moscatell will take place.
- Cavalcada del Moscatell: In the afternoon, at 7:00 PM, the ‘Cavalcada del Moscatell’ will take place, parading down Avenida de Santa Caterina to the Glorieta de la ermita de Sant Vicent. This colorful parade will feature the participation of the Comissió de Festes Infantil, the Grup de Danses Font Santa, as well as carriages and horses from the Associació Alejandro Morell, accompanied by the traditional music of the Colla el Falçó.
- Festive Plaza: From 7:30 PM onwards, the plaza will come alive with an exhibition of local products and their respective wineries, dance performances, and the traditional cantada d’Albades with bagpipe and drum accompaniment. There will also be contests, children’s workshops, and the popular Xapada del Vi. Accompanying these events, the Comissió de Festes Sant Vicent 2025 will offer Moscatel tapas and vermouth, all enlivened by live music.
- Wine Tasting and Dinner: The day will be complemented by a wine tasting organized by the Associació Defensors del Moscatell, starting at 8:00 PM, followed by a communal dinner at 9:00 PM, and a dance party at 11:00 PM.
With this program, attendees can enjoy an atmosphere carefully designed to highlight the cultural and winemaking richness of the locality. The Festa del Moscatell is an unmissable celebration that reaffirms Teulada Moraira’s commitment to preserving its cultural heritage and promoting its local products, and therefore, the scheduled events are subsidized by the Teulada City Council.
