Tragedy in Spain’s Mallorca: Six-year-old boy drowns in a hotel swimming pool

Drought crisis sees first closures of swimming pools and dismissals of lifeguards in Spain’s Malaga

A SIX-YEAR-OLD French boy has died after drowning in a hotel swimming pool in Mallorca.

The tragic incident occurred at 5pm on Sunday afternoon at a hotel located on Carrer d’Acapulco in the heart of the popular Playa de Palma resort.

Staff attempted to resuscitate the boy before emergency services arrived after he was spotted floating in one of the hotel’s pools.

Despite the best efforts of emergency personnel, the boy was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The Policia Nacional have opened a formal investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding the young boy’s death.
