Got a DNI in Spain? These are the 41 countries you can travel to without needing a passport

DO you have a Spanish DNI? You can travel to these 41 countries passport free. 

Travelling can be stressful, you have to remember so many documents, toiletries and necessities along the way. 

Why not take away the stress of remembering your passport? 

If you are lucky enough to have a Spanish DNI, you can travel to many countries, in the EU and beyond with just this one document. 

Thanks to EU law, you can move freely between these 26 countries:

  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Bulgaria
  • Cyprus
  • Croatia
  • Denmark
  • Slovenia
  • Estonia
  • Finland
  • France
  • Greece
  • Hungary
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Luxembourg
  • Malta
  • Poland
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Czech Republic
  • Slovak Republic
  • Romania
  • Sweden

If you want to go further afield, you can also visit these 15 countries with just an ID card:  Albania, Andorra, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Norway, San Marino, Vatican City, Serbia and Switzerland.

Make sure you keep your ID on you at all times and check each country’s requirements before travel. 

Who is elegible for a DNI?

DNI cards are available for Spanish citizens aged 14 or over.

To secure yours, you must provide a Spanish passport or proof of nationality, a birth certificate, a passport photo, proof of address and a payment fee.

For foreigners living in Spain, the DNI functions in the same way as a TIE (third country national identity card).
