A 48-YEAR-OLD British man has been arrested in Spain’s south-east Murcia region following a three-hour stand-off with police where he threatened to blow up a flat.
He barricaded himself in a friend’s home in San Javier and put a knife to his neck
The unnamed Brit threw several objects into the street and eyewitnesses said he threatened to explode a butano gas cylinder, but authorities have not yet officially confirmed that.

Neighbouring buildings were evacuated by the Guardia Civil as a preventative measure.
The incident started on Tuesday at around 8pm with the San Javier Policia Local first to arrive at a block of flats on Calle Coronel Lopez Peña.
They responded to calls that a British national had threatened the home owner who was able to escape.
The aggressor then stayed inside the flat and barricaded himself inside.
A specialist Guardia Civil unit entered the property at 11pm and arrested the British man.
He was taken to the Guardia barracks in San Javier and charged with making threats.
