SPAIN has issued a red weather alert for Mallorca as severe storms and rainfall batter the island today.
It comes as a so-called DANA weather front rolls over the Balearic Islands after leaving storms and heavy rain in the north-east of the mainland earlier this week.
The red alert by weather agency AEMET is in effect until at least 3pm on Thursday.
It is the highest warning level possible and means there is a serious risk to life.
The affected areas could see up to 180mm of rain fall over just a few hours.
The red alert is in force for the north and north east of Mallorca, including Arta, Pollenca and Sa Pobla.
Meanwhile the rest of the entire island is on orange-level alert for the same freak weather.
The entirety of Ibiza is also on an orange alert for storms and rain.
