British motorist chased TWICE by police in Spain and fails excess alcohol and drug tests

POLICE in Castellon province chased a British driver twice around the streets of Burriana last weekend, before catching him the second time.

The British man, 44, drove off from a police checkpoint on Saturday putting the life of an officer at risk.

He escaped the clutches of the Burriana Policia Local but another patrol car spotted him on Sunday afternoon driving on Avenida Cardenal Tarancon with three passengers.

Once again on seeing the patrol vehicle, the Brit accelerated and drove off recklessly until he was chased down and stopped on Calle Virgen de los Dolores.

Officers confirmed that he was the same motorist involved in Saturday’s incident, and that he was driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, as well as not having a driving licence.

A search of his car uncovered quantities of cocaine and marijuana in addition to a precision scale and a butterfly knife.

He has been charged with several crimes including serious disobedience of police officers, road safety infringements, reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol beverages and drugs, not having a driving license, and violating public health laws.

He also faces prosecution over possession of a weapon.
