Man, 44, collapses and dies from heat stroke in Spain’s Madrid after his body temperature soared to 42C

A 44-YEAR-OLD man has collapsed and died from heat stroke in the centre of Madrid.

The unnamed victim was walking through the Cuña Verde park in the capital city’s La Latina district on Monday when he suddenly fell to the floor.

According to emergency services, the tragic incident occurred at around 2pm just across from Calle Concejal Francisco Jose Jimenez Martin.

Paramedics rushed to the scene to find the man semi-conscious and with a body temperature of 42C.

He fell into cardiorespiratory arrest and died despite medics spending almost an hour trying to revive him.

According to 20Minutos, the man had serious previous health conditions and was taking medication that could have exacerbated his symptoms.

Madrid had been on a weather alert today for extreme heat.

Temperatures in the central region were predicted to reach around 37C.

Official advice from Aemet warns people to stay out of the sun during peak hours between 12pm and 5pm.

This especially applies to the elderly or other vulnerable people, including those with severe health conditions.
