Benidorm mobility scooter rider, 83, in serious condition after plunging five metres into a ravine

AN 83-YEAR-OLD man suffered serious injuries in Benidorm on Sunday after his mobility scooter spun five metres down into a ravine.

The crash knocked him unconscious and he was taken to the Marina Baixa Hospital in Villajoyosa.

It’s not known why the scooter left the road and the man’s nationality has not been disclosed by authorities, or whether he lived locally or was on holiday.

Emergency services were notified about the accident in the Derramador ravine at around 10am.

Two fire vehicles, the Benidorm Policia Local, the Policia Nacional, and medics in two ambulances attended the scene.

After some initial treatment from health staff, the injured man was placed into a special stretcher and taken up to the road where he was transferred to an ambulance.

In August 2022. a British woman, 58, died after her mobility scooter careered down a ravine on the Camino de la Cruz not far from the Villamarina apartment block.
