A BRITISH tourist had an unforgettable visit to Mallorca’s Palma Cathedral when she broke her ankle and had to be rescued by a fire crew’s cherry picker.
The 47-year-old woman suffered the injury at the cathedral’s top terrace and was unable to walk.
Paramedics could not get her down either on a stretcher because of the building’s narrow staircase.

Palma’s fire brigade were then called in shortly before 1pm on Thursday to stage a spectacular rescue.
A ladder with a cherry picker was deployed with a large crowd gathering to witness the operation.
Medics accessed the terrace and placed the woman on a stretcher, which was then placed into the cherry picker.
The descent to the ground was then carefully carried out over a number of minutes with instructions coming from a command car to make any corrections in direction.
The crowd gave out a large round of applause as the stretcher arrived at ground level and the tourist shook hands with fire team members.
The Brit was then taken by ambulance to a private clinic for an operation on her fractured ankle.
