Tourists leave their young children behind on a bus in Spain

TWO foreign tourists left their children behind on a Valencia City bus when they got off to visit the National Museum of Ceramics.

The parents only realised their youngsters, aged three and five years, were not behind them when they started walking on the street.

The French-speaking couple sat two seats ahead of them and did not realise they had not followed them out.

The route 28 bus continued its journey and two stops later, the children noticed that their parents were not in front of them.

The three-year-old started crying and a passenger told the driver what had happened and he radioed his control room.

Meanwhile, the horrified parents hailed a taxi and asked the driver to follow the bus, which was stopped but it was a different route 28 vehicle.

The bus driver also contacted the control room where officials pieced together what had happened with three staff members going to the vehicle with the children.

The parents were told the exact route 28 bus to find, which slowed down to give time for their taxi to catch up with them for a happy ending.

The mother and father were said to be in a very distressed state over their 40 minute ordeal but thanked authorities for keeping their children safe.
