A GROUP of Spanish youngsters has sparked a major backlash online after they shared videos of themselves on TikTok sinking a boat they were sailing off the coast of Mallorca.
In the two videos – one of which has racked up more than six million views, and the other nearly two million – they young men can be seen travelling across the water at high speed, and clearly under the effects of alcohol.
The waves are what cause the water to enter, with cans of tonic sloshing around in the flooded boat.
In a second video, the youngsters have stopped the boat and start desperately trying to clear the water from inside the vessel using a cooler as well as their drinks glasses.
And in a third and final recording, they are seen aboard another boat with a German flag, reporting that they had been rescued by good Samaritans.
Their smaller vessel is visible in the background being towed.
Plenty of people, however, failed to see the funny side.
“We have more than enough of these types of idiots in Mallorca, we could export them – especially in summer,” said one user on social network X.
Others, however, thought that the videos were hilarious.
“The best part is the captain with his drink in his hand the whole time, hahahaha!” wrote user Strambul on TikTok.
Another had a warning after the rescue: “If they save you out at sea, they have the right to reclaim your boat as their own.”
