YOUNG locals in Spain have begun demonstrating against restaurants that offer menus in English.
In a bizarre new TikTok trend, youngsters are buying food from local shops before filming themselves eating it next to said ‘English-speaking’ establishments.
The movement is based in Soller and has received much support online, with one of their videos so far garnering 1,400 likes and over a 100 comments.
The video, posted on TikTok, is captioned: “F*** Guiris” and hashtags including ‘guiris go home’ and ‘regulation of tourism’.
It shows a group of young people sitting on the ground in Soller as an emblematic tram passes by.
The text reads: “Having lunch eating a sandwich from a local bakery because we’re not going to eat somewhere with an English menu.”
Many comments supported the group saying: “I went to Ibiza and I forgot I was in Spain’ and ‘You’re right, it’s like this everywhere.”
It comes as anti-tourism protests sweep the country, with many chanting ‘guiris go home’.
