Saudi princess is dragged to court in Spain over criminal complaint filed by an ex-employee at her Mallorca mansion

PRINCESS AlJoharah Talal Alsaud, granddaughter of Saudi Arabia’s founder, was stopped by police and ordered to appear in court in Son Sant Joan, Mallorca.

She was stopped on Monday afternoon while attempting to leave the island.

Alsaud is accused of criminal conversion, or exerting control over someone else’s property.

It comes after she was reported by a former employee of her Son Vida mansion.

She was not arrested in the airport due to her diplomatic status.

The princess appeared in court yesterday morning, Thursday, July 24, but no injunctions have been issued against her.

Alsaud has holidayed in Mallorca since she was a child.

But, the case against Alsaud, part of one of the world’s richest royal dynasties, started in 2022 when an employee of her Calle Llucamet chalet, Son Vida, was fired.

Although they reached an agreement during arbitration, the man in question later filed a complaint.

According to him, he had left various personal items in the royal’s property, which was unable to recover.

Palma magistrate’s court then investigated the criminal conversion claim but attempts to inform the princess of the investigation were fruitless, leading to the search, arrest and court warrant.

After spending a few days on the island, Alsaud arrived at Palma airport on Monday afternoon to catch her flight.

She was intercepted at the Son Sant Joan border by the Policia Nacional, however, due to her diplomatic status it was not possible to formally arrest her.

Alsaud was asked to present herself to the court on Via Alemania the next morning.

She attended court alongside her lawyer, Tomeu Vidal.

After being informed of the charges against her, she has asserted her right not to testify.

No precautionary measures have been put in place against her.
