Investigations started in 2023 when police heard about a Torrevieja man selling cocaine from his house.
It was discovered that he was not operating on his own but supported by a large-scale trafficking ring led by a 44-year-old Spaniard in Alginet, Valencia province.
The boss gave orders to other members of the group and had direct contact with international gangs that shipped in narcotics via the port of Valencia.
He lived in a luxury development in Alginet and the police said he was obsessed with security.
There were hidden rooms spread throughout his property where he stored large amounts of money, high-end watches, several mobile phones and even a bulletproof vest.
His right-hand man lived in a neighbouring villa which also had similar security measures.
The gang supplied drugs to several key clients, who in turn distributed the cocaine and speed to lower level dealers for sale to customers.
Keeping track of their activities was not easy during the process of transporting the drugs.
The crew used powerful high-end vehicles and adopted strong security measures, even using auxiliary cars for counter-surveillance monitoring of any police activity.
Nevertheless, the whole organisation was dismantled during the police raids, which besides the drugs, netted €212,230 in cash, five luxury watches, and nine high-end cars.
Eight of the 12 gang members were denied bail after appearing before a Torrevieja court.
