Forest fire in Marbella is stabilised after 100 firefighters work through the night to tackle inferno

A FOREST fire in Marbella has been stabilised following a long night of work by dedicated firefighters.

More than 100 men and women were roped in to tackle the flames after they broke out in the Nagueles area at around 5pm on Monday.

According to the Andalucia fire service INFOCA, a total of 14 aircraft, including helicopters and airplanes, were used to drop water on the blaze.

Two groups of forest firefighters are still putting out the last few remnants of the fire.

There had been fears it could spread to homes given the windy conditions paired with high temperatures.

However the rapid work of firefighters stopped the fire before it could threaten homes in nearby Marbella.
