AN 11-year-old Irish girl has died after plunging from the seventh floor of a hotel in Spain.

The tragic incident took place in Port d’Alcudia, Mallorca, at around 6.30am today.

The Guardia Civil has launched an investigation into the death, but all signs point to an accidental fall.

The girl is believed to have gone out onto the balcony while the rest of her family were sleeping.

It is then that, for a yet unknown reason, the girl somehow fell some 20 metres to her death.

Paramedics rushed to the scene following multiple calls from witnesses to police.

They desperately tried to revive the girl but nothing could be done to save her.

The hotel was located on Avenida de Tuca, in an area popular with British and Irish holidaymakers.
