Autopsy confirms that body found on Monday in Spain’s Tenerife is that of missing Lancashire teenager Jay Slater

AN autopsy has confirmed that a body found on Monday in Tenerife is that of missing teenager Jay Slater.

That’s according to sources from the Canary Islands High Court, who spoke to local media on Tuesday.

Fingerprints taken from the body allowed for the positive identification of the 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer from Lancashire, who went missing four weeks ago yesterday after a night out partying while on holiday in Tenerife.

BREAKING NEWS Human remains found during search for Jay Slater
The body of Jay Slater has reportedly been identified in Tenerife.

According to La Provincia, the identification and cause of death was not expected to be released until next week due to the advanced state of decomposition of the corpse discovered in a hard-to-reach area of Masca, in Tenerife on Monday.

But sources from the court said that the injuries that Slater had sustained were compatible with an accidental fall.

It had already emerged on Monday that the body found was accompanied by Slater’s belongings and clothes.

A spokesperson for the Slater family said yesterday that they were ‘absolutely broken’ by the news.
