Their identities have not been revealed.

As previously reported by the Olive Press, the couple were staying at the Costa Narejos Hotel in Los Narejos.

They were returning to their accommodation just after 11pm on Tuesday and were crossing the road when they were run over.

The driver fled the scene but the Los Alcazares Policia Local caught him and a breath test showed he was more than three-times over the alcohol limit.

He was also behind the wheel without a driving licence, and now faces a reckless homicide charge to add to his list of motoring offences.
