British tourist suffers serious injuries in Mallorca hotel balcony fall

A BRITISH tourist has been seriously injured after falling from a first floor balcony at a hotel in the Alcudia area of Mallorca.

The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon when the 43-year-old man fell some five metres to the ground.

He was staying at the four-star PortBlue Club Resort and Spa at Pollentia.

Eye-witnesses and hotel staff contacted the emergency services, with the Alcudia Policia Local and two ambulances attending the scene.

Unconfirmed reports suggested that the man was in a heated argument with somebody on the phone, just moments before the fall.

An ambulance took him on the 60 kilometre journey to the Son Espases Hospital in Palma.
