A BLAST of warm weather is expected this coming weekend on the Costa del Sol, with the potential to see the area’s beaches brimming with sunbathers and swimmers.
The cause is a mass of warm air from the Atlantic, which is expected to move in from Friday.
Temperatures are likely to reach around 25ºC as a result, according to state weather service Aemet.
The mercury will be pushed up even further come Sunday, Diario Sur reported, thanks to a wind known as terral.
A terral wind typically blows from the land toward the sea, and can either bring dry and warm conditions or cooler air from higher altitudes.
In areas such as Valle del Gudalhorce, Malaga, Estepona and Velez-Malaga, highs of 30ºC are forecast on Sunday thanks to this phenomenon – a full 10ºC higher than today’s prevision.
“This Saturday and Sunday people will be able to go to the beach, because summer temperatures are expected,” weather expert Jose Luis Escudero told Diario Sur.
The good weather is expected to last well into next week, with 27ºC forecast for Monday, 25ºC for Tuesday and 24ºC on Wednesday, Aemet reported.
