New five-star hotel and luxury apartments are coming to Spain’s Estepona: €150m project is being backed by an Emirati fund

ESTEPONA will see a new five-star hotel and luxury apartments after Emirati funds backed the €150m project.

An Emirati investment fund, Unicorn Royal Emirates has acquired the Santa Marta hotel company for some €40 million euros.

The company owns a five star hotel complex in Estepona, which despite being started in 2004, was never finished.

It is near the playa de El Saladillo, one of the biggest in Estepona at almost three kilometres long.

Now, the hotel will have all its 160 rooms and series of luxury apartments finished.

The ‘branded residences’ will be decorated by a prestigious designer or brand.

Between 85 and 250 metres squared, each apartment will have a terrace and private pool.

Hotel rooms will be equally large with terraces looking out over the sea.

The project will also have a fitness area and spa kitted out with the latest technology, pools and a kids play area.

There will also be three restaurants serving up international cuisine and a beach club.

The project is expected to make 250 jobs and attract luxury tourism to Estepona.

According to Unicorn Royal Emirates CEO, Sergio Garcia: “It will be one of the most luxurious five star destinations in the region and one of the first branded residencies projects in all of Spain.”

It is hoped the hotel complex will be finished by summer 2027.

Unicorn Royal Emirates is a Spanish-UAE investment group with the objective of acquiring hotels and real estate in Spain’s main cities.

Today, they managed around €500 million in real estate, with the intention of investing €2,000 million more in the next three to five years.

These investments include the construction of 19 luxury apartments in Calle Moreti, Malaga city and a further nine on Calle Vazquez Claver.
