PALMANOVA BEACH, MALLORCA

A WAITER has been arrested by the Guardia Civil for raping a British tourist in Palmanova on Mallorca.

The 20-year-old Italian national met the woman last week at a restaurant that he worked at.

The Guardia Civil in Calvia said that the Brit spent the evening at the premises drinking alcohol.

When the restaurant closed for the night, the waiter took advantage of her drunken state to take her to a nearby beach where the sexual assault took place.

The victim filed a complaint, and the Guardia launched an investigation, culminating in the arrest of the Italian man.

No further information has been disclosed including whether the man has appeared in court or been granted bail.

It’s not known whether the victim was on holiday on her own or with family or friends.

Earlier in the month, four Italians were arrested in Playa de Palma after raping a young Brazilian woman at a holiday apartment, after one of the group met her at a nightclub.
