ALICANTE-ELCHE airport is continuing its record breaking start to 2024 with the best-ever passenger numbers for March.
Airport owner Aena said that 1.2 million travellers used the facility last month- 21.3% up on a year ago, and an impressive 27.2% increase on 2019, before the Covid pandemic struck.
The first quarter of 2024 has seen 3.2 million passengers, up by 22.7% on the same period last year.

It ran 20,729 flights between January and March- 18.4% more than a year earlier.
The bulk of March passengers- over a million- were international travellers, with the United Kingdom dominating (437,414).
Well behind in second place were the Netherlands with 89,504 followed by Germany on 70,348.
A major emerging market is Poland, who were just 319 people behind the German total.
Alicante-Elche was the seventh busiest Spanish airport last month, with the summer season to come and a 13% increase in schedules compared to last year.
