Stowaway travels from EGYPT to Spain in the luggage hold of a plane: Incident raises security concerns amid heightened terror fears

A STOWAWAY managed to travel from Egypt to Spain while hiding in the hold of a passenger plane, raising security concerns.

The unnamed man was able to avoid detection to fly from Cairo to Bilbao on Monday.

He was arrested by police after making a run for it on the tarmac after landing.

The regional Basque government has since confirmed that the individual has no links to terrorism.

It comes as Spain continues to be on heightened alert for jihadists since the outbreak of the war between Israel and Hamas.

According to Spanish newspaper El Correo, the detainee refused to voluntarily return to his home country.

He is planning to apply for political asylum via his lawyer, reports suggest.
