Tragedy as father, 72, DIES in hospital after being ‘axed by his son’ in Spain

A FATHER has died in hospital after being allegedly axed in his home by his 46-year-old son. 

The 72-year-old was rushed to hospital after being hit in Granada on Wednesday. His 46-year-old son was arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm afterwards. 

Police allege the pair had a heated exchange before the son drew his weapon.  

The 72-year-old passed away on Wednesday evening in hospital. 

We previously reported that a 46-year-old had been arrested after allegedly attacking his father with an axe during a heated argument in Albolote. 

Neighbours said the suspect was known to suffer with mental health issue and drug addition and police were frequently called to the street to deal with his outbursts.

Residents said the son’s behaviour had declined in recent weeks following the death of his mother.
