Andalucia’s health districts are set to be given the green light to transition into Alert Level 0.

416 MUNICIPALITIES in Spain’s Andalucia, out of a total of 778, are at extreme risk of COVID-19 for exceeding a 14-day cumulative incidence rate of 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Scores of municipalities in Andalucia exceed the threshold for extreme risk 15 weeks after the end of the state of alarm, including the eight provincial capitals and four other cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants; specifically, Algeciras and Jerez de la Frontera (Cadiz), Marbella (Malaga) and Dos Hermanas (Sevilla).

Furthermore, 26 of the 416 municipalities at ‘extreme risk’ have exceeded the rate of 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last two weeks, although only two have more than 5,000 inhabitants, namely Mengibar and Villanueva del Arzobispo (Jaen).

Despite the elevated numbers, the Regional Ministry of Health has registered 106 fewer localities in the red zone for COVID-19 than there were seven days ago.

According to the latest data updated by the Regional Ministry of Health, Sevilla is the province with the highest number of positive cases, with 81 localities exceeding a 14-day cumulative incidence rate of 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (11 less than a week ago), followed by Granada with 72 (25 less than 7 days ago), Jaen with 56 (11 less), Huelva with 45 (7 less), Malaga with 44 (21 less), Almeria with 43 (13 less), Cordoba with 43 (13 less) and Cadiz with 32 (six less).
