THE local council of Loriguilla (Valencia) announced on July 13 that the tap water is not fit for human consumption.
Authorities have banned the use of tap water for drinking and food preparation between July 13 and July 20.
They have said, however, that the running water can be used for everything else, like showers or hand washing.
The company AQLARA told authorities that due to issues with the reverse osmosis water purification equipment, they cannot allow people to drink the water.
They have not been able to remove the nitrates that are in the subterranean water from the area. So the water is not safe to drink for the time being.
