DOWNPOUR: Orange level warning for heavy rain and flood risks on Spain’s Costa del Sol and across Malaga TOMORROW

Floods Malaga

WEATHER agency AEMET has upgraded its warning for heavy rainfall across Malaga tomorrow from yellow to orange.

The downpour could leave up to 30 litres of rain per square metre in an hour.

There will be torrential rainfall and risk of floods in the Guadalhorce Valley, Ronda, the Costa del Sol and Malaga city.

The orange warning, meaning there is a significant risk to the population, will be active from midnight tonight until 9am on Thursday morning in the capital.

Elsewhere it will be active until around 12pm, where there could be up to 100 litres of rainfall per square metre or even more, according to AEMET.

Over a similar time frame, Antequera and Ronda will be on a less serious yellow alert.

There is also a warning of strong winds and storms throughout the province and the region of Andalucia.
