New COVID-19 cases hold firm across Spain’s Valencian Community

Health chiefs say a new COVID-19 wave is hitting Costa Blanca and Valencia areas of Spain

FRESH COVID-19 infections are continuing to stay above the 1,500 daily mark across the Valencian Community.

A record daily number of 88 outbreaks were reported, with 20 of those in Alicante Province.

The Friday evening(October 30) report from the regional health ministry recorded 1,517 new cases in the Community, some 12 infections lower than the previous day.

Nine more people died in the region, five less than in the previous briefing on Thursday.

In the breakdowns, Alicante Province added 492 new infections as opposed to 642 a day earlier, with one fatality.

Alicante area hospitalisations rose from 371 to 396, with 3 more people needing intensive care

Outbreaks in the province included three in Benijofar involving 13 cases all caused through social contact.

Orihuela accounted for two contagions totalling eight infections also caused by socialising.
