AN ALICANTE man is believed to have hired a pair Colombian hitman brothers to murder a beach walker by shooting him in the head from behind.
Guardia Civil identified and arrested the pair responsible for the death of a man on Muchavista beach in September 2019.
The victim had been walking along the El Campello coast when he was shot at close range from behind.
He was left to die on the beach whilst the attacker fled in a car.
Investigations quickly found the car which had been stolen and given false number plates.
DNA and blood samples in the car were found to match traces at he murder scene.
A search on the perpetrators’ Barcelona home found multiple firearms, silencers and a 9mm automatic pistol later identified as the murder weapon.
The man admitted his driver accomplice was his brother, who had fled Spain to his native Colombia.
However, upon his arrival, he was detained by authorities for another attempted murder committed there previously.
The brothers had stalked their victim for five days, settling into residence near his El Campello home and waiting for the right moment to attack him.
Following their December arrest, police identified and detained a third man from Muchamiel in June.
He had rented the property to the brothers, and provided the weapons found by police.
Sources say he had hired the brothers to carry out the murder.
