NATIONAL POLICE in Murcia found over eight kilograms of marijuana hidden in a double-bottomed ‘caleta’ in the trunk of a car, and then a whole plantation under a kitchen floor.
The stash in the car was only accessible via a sophisticated system of magnets designed to prevent the haul from being found.
Two suspected drug traffickers were arrested during the operation as they attempted to smuggle the load out of Spain to other European countries.
Following their arrests, the operation focused on their homes, where officers seized another 25kg of marijuana, 50 ecstasy pills, several doses of MDMA, 12,000 euros in cash and five vehicles.
In addition, the agents found a room under the kitchen floor with a marijuana plantation composing of 23 sets of lamps, transformers and several carbon filters used to grow over 200 plants.
The pair were detained for alleged drug trafficking offences, and went straight to prison where they await trial.
