IBIZA DJ legend Jose Padilla has died age 64 from colon cancer at home in Spain.
Largely regarded as a driving force of chill out music, Jose Padilla helped many ravers recover at Cafe del Mar with his mix of beats.
“It is with great sadness that we bring you the news that José passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday night here on his beloved island of Ibiza … Now he has gone and the sunset in Ibiza will never be the same without him, but the beautiful music of José Padilla will stay with us forever,” read an online post.
Padella was born in Girona in 1955 and moved to Ibiza aged 21 to pursue a career in music.
He became a resident DJ at Cafe del Mar, San Antonio, where he played until his death.
In a statement online, the bar said, “José Padilla chilled a generation of clubbers and his art touched the lives of millions.”
