EYEWITNESSES have described the horrifying moment a British man was shot at while enjoying a night out in Marbella.
The 50-year-old tourist, believed to be called Tom, was reportedly shot at at least three times after becoming involved a brawl.
One of the bullets struck his face, leaving him in a critical condition and in need of emergency surgery.
“Suddenly five guys were running down the street chasing another guy shouting,” a British expat, who was playing tennis at the Aloha Tennis Club at the time, told the Olive Press.
“One guy pulled out a gun and they just shot him, three shots, literally 30 yards away.”
According to witnesses, the assailants had Liverpudlian accents and ran back towards the direction of El Jardin bar on Avenida del Prado after the incident had taken place at around 9pm.
“There were a lot of blood stains on the road the following morning. I thought they would have cleaned it up out of respect,” another eyewitness told this paper.
The confrontation allegedly began outside The Living Room Bar in Aloha Gardens, Avenida del Prado.
“There was a small disagreement outside the bar and then it kicked off loads,” a source who was drinking in the bar at the time told the Olive Press.
“There were 10-15 people involved and in the panic a gun was pulled out. As soon as bullets went off everybody fled,” he said.
Five men were subsequently arrested by the police further along the Avenida del Prado road.
The victim is now in Carlos Haya Hospital, Malaga, receiving emergency surgery in critical condition.
Known as Tom, the injured man is believed to be a tourist who was staying in a luxury residential estate in Estepona.
