BREAKING: Spain adds 37,889 COVID-19 cases over the weekend – 10,000 more than last Monday

SPAIN has recorded 37,889 coronavirus over the weekend and 217 deaths.

According to Ministry of Health figures, today’s figure is more than 10,000 higher than what was recorded last Monday.

It comes after some 15,186 cases were recorded on Friday.

Of the more than 37,000 cases registered today, some 3,750 are from tests performed in the past 24 hours.

The total number of infections in Spain now sits at 974,449, according to official figures, although the real number is likely much higher.

In the past week there have been 459 deaths from COVID-19, down from the 575 weekly average reported on Thursday.

The total number of coronavirus deaths in Spain since the start of the pandemic now sits at 33,992.

In the past seven days, some 3,175 people have been admitted to hospital with the virus, 229 of whom were sent to intensive care units.
