A FATHER has reported the attempted kidnapping of his daughter, 9, outside of an English academy in Mallorca.
According to the parent’s complaint to the police, a man had approached his child as she was waiting to be picked by her grandmother outside of the school in Santa Mari yesterday afternoon.
The man told the child that her father had sent him to collect her and that she should follow him to his vehicle where he would then take her home.
The young girl refused and ran back into the academy to tell her tutors what had happened.
They subsequently called her parents as well as the Policia Local.
The suspect has been described as a Spanish man, between 40 and 50 years old and with a beard.
He was driving a small white van at the time of the incident.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the authorities.
In recent years there has been a spate of attempted kidnappings across Spain.
In 2017, parents on the Costa del Sol were urged to be on high alert after a number of attempted abductions.
A man was also arrested in Malaga for allegedly kidnapping a three-year-old boy in 2018 while dressed as an FBI agent.
