THE victim of a fatal stabbing in Southern Spain has been named as Ben Nesbitt.
The 22-year-old was from Woodvale, between Southport and Formby on the north-west coast of England.
He suffered fatal knife wounds during an altercation with another Briton in the early hours of Thursday morning, according to news agency EFE.
He died in Ciudad Quesada near Rojales in Alicante province, an urbanisation popular with British expats.
The Liverpool Echo published this picture of him today, October 4, after confirming that Ben’s family had been told of his passing.
Nothing further has been reported and the whereabouts of his alleged murderer is still unknown.
One Olive Press reader reported that the incident happened in the Doña Pepa area of Quesada, but this has yet to be officially confirmed.
Guardia Civil have confirmed they’re looking for a black BMW 520D Sport with the registration MW63 MPF as part of the manhunt they launched immediately following the tragedy.
Tributes to Ben have now begun to appear online.
One read: “Remembering nothing but the best funny memories of you. Gone way way before your time was such a funny little character, our space raider. Fly high brother.”
Another read: “I’m absolutely devastated because I know how much of a lovely boy u actually was.”
Recalling ‘the shy little 12-year-old’ they once knew, the writer added: “You didn’t deserve to die in such a horrific way.”
