A 48-YEAR-OLD man who sexually abused his daughter has been jailed for 11 years.

The assaults went on for seven years without the mother’s knowledge and started in Xixona in 2011 when she was aged six.

Her parents moved to Torrevieja in 2014, with the girl continuing to live in Xixona with her aunt.

Her visits to the coastal city saw her subjected to more assaults, which then continued when her father was serving a prison sentence.

He took advantage of his short-term release permits to meet her and his abusive behaviour did not stop.

In June 2018, when she was aged 13, she told a friend that her father wanted to have penetrative sex with her during one of his prison release periods.

The friend told her parents who contacted the girl’s mother and she then reported the abuse to the police.

Besides getting an 11-year jail term, the abusive father has been ordered to pay €30,000 in compensation to his daughter.
