THE RATE of new COVID-19 cases is falling in Alicante Province according to the latest data supplied by the Valencian Health Ministry.

Figures announced last night(September 28) show 205 new cases out of the Valencian Community total of 565, which covered the whole of last weekend.

That means a drop of 43 cases in Alicante Provice on the previous weekend figures, and just one additional confirmed infection above the previous daily report last Friday(September 25).

The percentage of new cases in the Valencian Community is the lowest in Spain standing at 37.29 fresh infections per 100,000 people over the last seven days.

In stark contrast, the country’s worst hit region, Madrid, reported 13,449 cases over last weekend.

Valencian Health Minister, Ana Barcelo, said: “Although the figures give us cause for optimism, we should not lower guard and we must follow all the rules to stop the coronavirus from spreading.”

Outbreaks were reported in Alcoy with six cases, four in Orihuela and three in Benitatxell.
