ORIHUELA COSTA is to host the “Arena 1000” beach handball tournament for the next three years.
The Spanish Federation of Handball visited the region yesterday, September 22, to announce the Costa Blanca leg of the ‘Arena Handball Tour’ for June and July of 2021 through to 2023.
The venue is to be the popular Cala Bosque in La Zenia, normally packed with holiday-makers from Britain and other countries.
The first vice president of the federation said: “This is an exemplary tournament at European level and we take into account that it will be an Olympic sport in the future.
“It is a pleasure to be in Orihuela again because the area has always shown special affection to this sport,” he continued.
The mayor of Orihuela, congratulated the mayor of Sports and his team, ‘for the important work they do to guarantee the continuity of sporting events in Orihuela’.
He said: “This tournament is a great showcase for the promotion of our city, and will have a positive impact on the economy and tourism of our municipality.2
