Malaga Rain Generic

MALAGA province has been placed on yellow alert for heavy rainfall and storms on Friday.

According to weather agency AEMET, the risk of downpours will be from midnight tonight until 3pm tomorrow.

The storm is said to have ‘tropical characteristics’ and will bring heavy rainfall, hail and lightning.

AEMET director Jose Sanchez-Laulhe predicts the Costa del Sol and Malaga will see 15 litres/m2 of rainfall.

The average rainfall in September in Malaga city is usually 20 litres/m2, meaning almost a month of rain in one day.

The Serrania de Ronda will see the most rainfall with up to 30 litres/m2.

From 6pm on Friday, however, AEMET forecasts no showers in the province.

Saturday and Sunday will see mostly clear skied and sun, with temperatures ranging between 19C and 29C.
