A TRANS woman has been beaten to death by her ‘partner’ in Spain.

Susana Criado Anton, 61, died in the early hours of Sunday morning after being brutally attacked by the suspect, named only as M.

The man, reported to be Susana’s partner for several years, was recorded by CCTV savagely beating her at around 10pm on Saturday night in Oviedo, Asturias.

Susana was transferred to the Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA), where she died of heart failure.

She had suffered serious blows to her face and chest, reported El Comercio.

Police have not released more information as they await the results of the autopsy and to charge M., who is being held after being arrested.

The Government delegate against Gender Violence, Victoria Rosell, said: “Another case of gender violence under investigation.

“A 60-year-old trans woman, who was allegedly beaten with fists last night.

“He (the suspect) is detained. Another case of hatred and machismo, please respect the dead and the pain of others.”

The investigation continues as authorities build a case of gender violence against the suspect.

Susana is the 32nd woman killed by gender violence in 2020 and number 1,065 since 2003.

Spain continues to struggle with violence against women and is often accused of not doing enough to protect them from their violent partners.

Several have been killed in recent years after having asked the state for protection.

Earlier this year, a Dutch expat was arrested after allegedly slitting the throat of his Romanian partner and throwing her body into a dumpster.
