ALICANTE PROVINCE is continuing to see an upsurge in new COVID-19 cases as daily figures continue to easily surpass those seen in March and April.

Officials said that one person had died from the coronavirus in the last 24 hours and stated that hospital admissions are continuing to fall.

New coronavirus cases have almost doubled over to 356 since the last update from the Valencian Health Ministry on Monday(September 14).

Two new outbreaks were recorded in Alicante Province consisting of three cases each in Bigastro and Dolores.

Both outbreaks were described by officials as being of ‘social origin’.

Hospital numbers fell by one with 150 people currently being treated for COVID-19, while those in intensive care dropped by four to 29.
