Minister in Spain’s Valencian Community may be grilled over health staff safety

New Barcelo Pic

VALENCIAN Health Minister, Ana Barcelo, could be quizzed in court over complaints that health workers were short of personal protection gear during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Valencian Community’s Superior Court(TSJ) wants prosecutors to see if there any grounds to start an investigation into Barcelo’s actions.

The TSJ has also asked whether a series of similar cases over PPE gear filed by health unions and professional associations could all be consolidated into one action.

Alicante General Hospital manager, Miguel Angel Garcia, and regional health Human Resources chief, Carmen Lopez, have already been ordered to appear in court this December in one of the submitted cases.
