SPANISH Police have arrested four people accused of extorting money from users of an erotic contacts website.
The quartet allegedly fleeced at least 22 site users of €9,500 over two months.
Those arrested – two in Granada, one in Marbella and one in Valencia – placed adverts on the site to draw in potential victims who they then tried to blackmail.
The gang accused their targets of using prostitutes without paying for their services, and went as far as sending images and videos of hooded ‘assassins’ wielding firearms.
Instant payments from their victims lead to the bogus threats ending.
If anybody held back on sending cash, the group stepped up their lies by making people believe that their homes were being watched and that family members would be attacked
The Policia Nacional said any money extorted by the gang would then be laundered out of the country.
